Tried installing the MiniDisplayVGAFirmware update.Performed first aid and hardware check from Disk Utility.Updated the OSx from El Capitan to Mojave.Yes, Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C have the same connector and are cross-compatible to a point, but Thunderbolt 3 is, for lack of a better explanation at the moment, a 'higher-level' spec. Checked if the adapter was working via a colleagues laptop (adapters seem to be working fine) I think the problem may be that you are using a USB-C to HDMI adapter.Tried combinations of different screens, different VGA cables with the adapter.Here is what I have done to solve the problem: ![]() Suddenly, this week the macbook stopped detecting different displays. I have had the adapter for over 2 years now and it has given me no problem at all. I have a MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2014) and a third-party thunderbolt to vga adapter. ![]()
